Need an idea? Start from one of these
If you write lyrics, you have probably got a notebook of songs nobody has heard. Getting them recorded used to mean finding a musician, a singer and an afternoon. Here you paste the words, pick a sound, and hear them performed.
ChatUp keeps your words as you wrote them. It adds the melody, the chords, the arrangement and the vocal. The description tells it how the song should feel; the lyrics tell it what to sing.
Ideas to start from
Your verses as a pop song
“An upbeat pop song with a big, catchy chorus”
- With vocals
- Pop

Lyrics
Verse Told myself I’d stay in tonight Then you called and said the stars were bright Chorus We’re running out of summer So let’s run out of time
Your bars over a beat
“A laid-back hip-hop track with a steady head-nod beat”
- With vocals
- Hip-hop
- Your lyrics
Lyrics
Verse Woke up early, city still asleep Notebook full of promises I mean to keep Chorus Step by step, block by block Never stop, never stop
Your words as a rock song
“A driving rock song with loud guitars in the chorus”
- With vocals
- Rock
- Your lyrics
Lyrics
Verse Engine cold and the road is long Radio playing our old song Chorus Turn it up, turn it up We were never giving up
How it works
Choose “Use my lyrics”
Paste your lyrics. Leave a blank line between sections, and start a section with Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Intro or Outro to name it.
Describe the sound
A sentence on tempo and feel: “slow and sparse”, “big chorus”, “late-night and moody”.
Pick a style
Choose one of the eight styles, or leave Automatic to let the description decide.
Create, listen, revise
Play the result. If a line trips the singer, shorten it and make the song again.
Formatting lyrics so they sing well
The singer follows the structure you give it. A clear layout makes a clearer song.
- One blank line between sections; no blank lines inside one.
- A section name on its own line, like “Chorus”, labels the section below it.
- No square brackets: write stage directions in the description instead.
- Up to 20 sections and 10,000 characters, which is far more than most songs need.
One set of lyrics, several songs
The same words can be a ballad or a punk song. Try your lyrics in two styles: hearing them change is the quickest way to learn what the song really is. Every version is saved to your account, so you can compare them side by side.
Frequently asked questions
- Will ChatUp change my lyrics?
- Your lyrics are sent as you wrote them, section by section. The performance may repeat a line or stretch a word to fit the melody, the way a singer would.
- How do I mark the verse and chorus?
- Put a blank line between sections. A line that is only a section name, like “Verse” or “Chorus:”, names the section that follows. Unnamed sections alternate verse and chorus.
- Can I choose the singer’s voice?
- There is no voice picker. You can describe the voice you imagine in the description, and ChatUp treats it as direction, not a guarantee.
- Who owns a song made from my lyrics?
- Your lyrics stay yours, and ChatUp does not claim ownership of the song you make. The Terms explain how you can use AI-generated output.
