Which AI Art Style Fits You?
Six questions. One style, and the exact words that get it.
Question 1 of 6
Scroll through the images you have saved. What do most of them have in common?
Most AI images look the same because most prompts do: a subject, the word "beautiful", and hope. The style words are what change everything. "Editorial photograph, 85mm, window light" and "watercolor on cold-press paper, soft bleeding edges" will take the same subject somewhere completely different, and the style you reach for says a lot about what you want a picture to do.
This quiz asks six questions about taste, mood, what you would make first, color, how much detail you want, and the medium you would pick with a free afternoon, then matches you to one of eight styles. Your result explains what the style suits, the words that reliably get the look, three mistakes to avoid, and four complete prompts you can paste straight into Image Gen in ChatUp.
All eight styles
Photorealistic
You want images that could pass for photographs: true light, real texture, no tells.
Cinematic
Moody light, wide frames, a story in every still. Your images look like film.
Watercolor
Soft washes, bleeding edges, and the white of the paper showing through.
Anime & Manga
Bold linework, expressive faces, and the drama of a great panel.
Pixel Art
Every pixel on purpose. Nostalgic, playful, and surprisingly expressive.
Flat Illustration
Clean shapes, bold flat color, and no fuss. Friendly, modern, and instantly readable.
3D Render
Glossy, polished, tactile. Your images look like they were modeled, lit, and rendered.
Ink Sketch
A few confident strokes, black on white. Fast, expressive, and unmistakably hand-drawn.
Why the style words matter more than the subject
Image models respond to the language of the medium. Photographers say lens, aperture, and light; painters say wash, paper, and pigment; 3D artists say material, global illumination, and backdrop. When your prompt borrows the right vocabulary, the model draws on everything it learned from that medium, and the result stops looking like generic AI art. When it does not, you get the default look, which is the one everyone recognizes.
The same goes for what you leave out. "Realistic" undermines a watercolor; "detailed" fights a flat illustration; "cinematic" on its own barely does anything. Each result page lists the words that help and the words that quietly work against you.
The eight styles at a glance
Where each style is at its best:
- Photorealistic: product shots, lifestyle imagery, and portraits that read as photos
- Cinematic: storyboards, thumbnails, covers, and anything that sets a mood
- Watercolor: prints, cards, journals, and gentle social posts
- Anime & Manga: avatars, character designs, stickers, and comic panels
- Pixel Art: game assets, icons, retro posters, and playful profile pictures
- Flat Illustration: websites, slides, explainers, and brand social posts
- 3D Render: product mockups, app icons, mascots, and abstract backgrounds
- Ink Sketch: storyboards, editorial art, sketchbook journals, and tattoo concepts
Frequently asked questions
- Can I mix two styles?
- Sometimes, if they share a logic: ink sketch with a watercolor wash, or cinematic lighting on a 3D render. Opposites like photorealistic and flat illustration tend to cancel out. Pick one lead style and borrow a single element from another.
- Does the style change how I should write the rest of the prompt?
- Yes. Photorealism wants lens and light; watercolor wants paper and wash; pixel art wants a grid and a palette. Each result page gives you the order that works: subject, style, lighting or medium, composition, mood, then aspect ratio.
- Which tool do I use in ChatUp to make these?
- Image Gen creates images from a prompt or from your own photos. Paste a prompt from your result page, or upload a photo and describe the style you want applied. Animate Photo and Generate Video can then turn a still into a short clip.
- Can I use the images commercially?
- It depends on the terms of the tool you generate with and on what the image shows. Original subjects are lower risk than recognizable people, brands, characters, or existing artworks. Read the terms and, for anything you will sell, get proper legal advice.
